The Million Dollar Man can be remembered as the love to hate WWF professional wrestler who bullied people with his money. Billed as a rich celebrity millionaire character, Ted DiBiase played the Million Dollar Man part, won dozens of wrestling matches, and lived the life of a rock star alongside celebrity wrestlers like Hulk Hogan and others.

Though he had everything a man would think he would ever want, DiBiase found himself on the verge of losing his family, his wife, and his kids due to the lavish lifestyle, weeks away from his family, and wild living while on the road. During one trip while on the road after a late night on the town, he received the call from his wife, letting him know he no longer lived at their home with his wife, she was officially kicking him out. It was then, he related the story recently at Angelus Temple, the church of the Dream Center in Los Angeles, that he called out to God. DiBiase was raised in a Catholic home and had developed a personal relationship with Jesus Christ at the age of 15. DiBiase related how growing up in a tiny town Wilcox, Arizona without any real prospects for fulfilling his dreams, God had opened the door for him to play Division 1 football, and given him more than he could have dreamed of. God had helped him through the death of his step-father and the resulting drinking problem of his mother. Now with his wife and three children on the line, his faith was what he fell back on in the midst of him potentially losing everything he had.

Just when DiBiase thought it was over, his friend and pastor advised him to lay it all out and tell the whole truth to his wife. DiBiase recalled Pastor Hal telling him, “Jesus said the truth would set you free, if you will trust God today, trust him as you did back then with child-like faith, God will forgive you and restore you. It’s not going to be easy and you may lose your wife and family but if you trust him you’re going to come out the other side of this.”

Through telling the truth to his wife, Pastor Hal continued to counsel DiBiase and his wife and restore DiBiase until the point God began opening doors for DiBiase to tell his story. After all, millions of people had interacted with the WWF, video games, and action figures with DiBiase face on them. Now he was hanging out in Christian circles, attending conferences, and pursuing his relationship with God. Doors began to open to DiBiase to use his influence to glorify God, and he walked through that door. God indeed restored his marriage and his wife forgave him and gave him another chance not because of him, but because of her love for Jesus Christ. Ted indeed had experienced the grace of God at his lowest point in life.

Today, DiBiase travels the world sharing his faith and calling people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as an evangelist. His ministry encourages believers to become dedicated followers of Jesus Christ. DiBiase shared, “You see, I believe that “genuine” Christianity is not a “religion”, but a daily, and very personal, relationship with Jesus.”

DiBiase’s story is yet another example of what God can do when you invite Christ to forgive your sins and you commit to serving him.
