Pasadena, California native Bryce Young hasn’t forgotten his roots, even as success and fame on the college football field have opened doors for the quarterback at Alabama. The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback thanks God and takes a stand for Christ, giving all glory to God.

Sports Spectrum shared a recent interview where Young said hard work and dedication to faith is what has kept Young grounded and strong as the accolades have come, Young has continued pointing people to Jesus Christ.

“I work to be the best version of myself that I can be and to embody Christ in all that I do,” he shared with Sports Spectrum. “So, for me, regardless of how someone else views me, whatever award, accolade, what someone may say … at the end of the day, what motivates me and pushes me is to model myself after the Lord.”

For Young, it’s more than a private nominal faith, the star quarterback bridges faith with every part of his life. In other words, he doesn’t just have faith, faith has him and it’s making the difference.

“I bring my faith in all that I do,” he said on the podcast. “I work hard and try to do my best to represent God through football. Whether it’s small things, big things, whatever it is, I understand that God’s with me.”

His response when he won the Heisman?

“First and foremost, I’d like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” he said. “Without him, I couldn’t be here, and through him, all things are possible.”

But Young also combines his faith with hard work and action, telling Sports Spectrum Coach Nick Saban requires every player earn their spot, no favorites, no politics.

“There’s a lot of excitement surrounding this year, this team,” the QB said on an episode of the Sports Spectrum Podcast to be released Aug. 31. “Obviously, it’s a new group of guys. … [Saban] has a very strict policy year to year that you’re not entitled to anything, so right now, it’s all of us individually proving ourselves, us pushing each other to get better.”
